The Saitta family has a fascinating history linked to Palermo: entrepreneurs and intellectuals who have contributed significantly to the cultural and social life of Sicily. The Bourbon reforms, which began with Charles III in the second half of the 1700s, revolutionized the feudal structure of the island, reducing the privileges of the Sicilian nobility.

The Palazzo Saitta Mercadante in Palermo takes its name from the Saitta and Mercadante families, involved in its history and construction.
